Cellular GPS
Tracking
Cell phones are no
doubt becoming an important part of our lives. Without a
cell phone a person finds him or herself as being
disconnected from the world. It is also true that sometimes
these cell phones create a lot of
nuisance and disturbance for its owner nevertheless one
can’t deny its benefits. With each passing day there are new
developments in cell phone industry which offers many new
features thus enhancing its usefulness even further. One of
such features introduced in cell phones is GPS
tracking.
GPS means Global
Pointing System which is a way of tracking the exact
position of an individual via satellites. This technology
was introduced somewhere back in 1960’s but it fully became
operation in 1995 and was introduced in cell phones in 2005.
It works on the phenomenon that 24 satellites that surrounds
the world constantly monitors the world and pick signal from
various locations and send them back to earth. Those signals
are then received by receivers. GPS tracking devices also
work as those receivers which receive signals from
satellites but it doesn’t have the ability to describe those
signals unless it is connected to a wireless system which
shows some sort of mapping items where the exact location
can be identified.
How accurately the
device will give the location depends upon the strength of
signals. The more the signals the more exact will be the
location. But in cases when the device is somewhere in some
hidden location or somewhere where the signal strength is
low or zero the information will be given about the last
known location. Thus cellular GPS tracking is a useful
device and can help in many places; some of its advantages
include:
- In emergency
situations, it’s possible to make a 911 call from a GPS
cell phone.
- It makes
tracking easy for law enforcement agencies thus is very
useful in cases when following a thief or terrorist is
required.
- If a person is
missing, his or her family members can request a Global
Pointing System tracking provided the missing person
possesses a cell phone with GPS tracking
system.
- Parents whose
kids have a cell phone with this feature can be sure of
the location and safety of their kids by installing
mapping software in their PCs where they can track the
exact location of their kids.
Along
with these there are many other advantages of a cellular GPS
tracking thus its better to choose a cell phone having a GPS
tracker than a phone which doesn’t offer this service.
Despite of the fact that there are many people who think GPS
tracking as invader of their privacy and personal life it is
still a very useful device and can prove to be very
beneficial in serious circumstances. Moreover there are many
laws which ensure that these types of tracking devices don’t
violate anyone’s privacy and should be used to trace
individuals in inevitable cases only. Thus the privacy
concerns are also catered for appropriately.
